Algerian Crisis and Anti-Kabyle Diversion.
After ravaging Kabylia for the fourth consecutive year with fires started using aerial means and leaving the Kabyle populations to fend for themselves with their losses of human lives, Algeria is now mounting accusations against the MAK. The guilty party becomes the accuser.
To distract from their acts of pyromania, Algerian services have fabricated a new case, claiming to have discovered an alleged arms trafficking operation at the port of Vgayet (Bejaia) involving the MAK.
The MAK is a peaceful movement, and the crude fabrications of the Algerian services cannot in any way deceive the international community about its political nature, nor justify its arbitrary classification as a terrorist organization.
The MAK categorically denies the latest false allegations from Algiers and demands an international investigation to expose the desperate Algerian regime.
The recent diplomatic failures, the general indifference towards the presidential elections scheduled in less than a month, and the Moroccan intervention at the UN recalling the Kabyle people’s right to self-determination have likely driven the Algerian services to organize a diversion like this fabricated case, where Algeria believes it has found the ideal scapegoat in the MAK.
We recall that after the death of dictator Boumédiène in December 1978, the Algerian services had organized an arms drop at Cap Sigli to incriminate the Kabyles in a similar diversionary case. In 2021, another fabricated arms trafficking case aimed at implicating the MAK also fizzled out, as did the assassination of Djamel Bensmail.
I call on the European Union, particularly France, the African Union, and the United States of America to conduct their own investigations to uncover the truth.
Truth will prevail. The peaceful, secular, and democratic Federal Republic of Kabylia will prevail as well.
Ferhat MEHENNI,
President of the Kabyle Government in Exile.
